Rock band Motley Crue have announced plans to take a festival on tour to 41 cities across North America.

The veteran act will be joined by fellow rockers Papa Roach, Buckcherrry, Sixx:AM and Trapt in an event dubbed “the loudest show on Earth”.

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee said he hoped Crue Fest would become an annual fixture like Ozzy Osbourne’s Ozzfest.

The band has also announced plans to release its new single Saints of Los Angeles via video game Rock Band.

Post-gig antics

British rock act Def Leppard are also set to release their new single through the Guitar Hero game, a week before it becomes available for general download.

Motley’s Lee, the former husband of Pamela Anderson, told the Associated Press the band had wanted to curate their own touring festival “forever”.

“And finally we’re doing it,” he said.
