Fender VG Stratocaster
Fender has always been a brand that is close to my heart. My dad bought me a Fender Standard Stratocaster(the Mexican made ones) while I was in secondary school. I think it was for my good result in studies or something. The Fender American Stratocaster would be a good thing to own but the Mexican ones are still as good. Fender has become synonimus with rock & roll as well as music legends such as Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Mayer to name a few.
Just like the Digital Les Paul, Fender has also came up with their own version of electric guitar with some digital Steroids. It’s called a VG Stratocaster or what most folks will call ‘VG Strat’. It’s a collaboration between Fender and Roland and yes, what Roland did was to add a GK pickup in there. You can use this guitar as a good ol’ normal Fender American Standard or you can activate those sound modelings from the tone knobs itself. you get 37 different pickup sounds, five different type of tunings: Drop D, Open G, D Modal (DADGAD), Low B (Baritone), and 12-string as well as different guitar models. Only one word from me..!@#$ awesome!! I mean this is a Fender American Standard with a killer tone!
Here’s what Guitar Player Magazine have to say about it:
When comparing the modeled Strat sounds to the actual Strat tones, it’s surprisingly tough to discern which are the digital sounds without looking at your M knob setting—the modeling is that good. It was only after fighting for space in the mix on a loud stage with a keyboardist and two horns that I noticed the advantages of each mode. The single-pickup tones are remarkably similar in either realm, but through a handwired, reissue Fender Vibroverb, the real Strat’s bridge/middle and middle/neck settings sounded more three-dimensional and less woofy than their modeled counterparts. On the other hand, the modeled single-coils cut through the din nearly as well, and they have a unique advantage—particularly in the studio: They are entirely free of 60-cycle hum.
